The United States Open tennis championships begin next week. But for Mr. Nadal and many of the blue-chip athletes whose lucrative side business is endorsing and representing brands, the week leading up to the Open is one part practice, one part celebrity commitments.
“I’m working very hard and working well, I think,” he said of his Open preparations. But before then, there’s business to attend to.
Mr. Nadal, 29, has just been announced as a global ambassador for Tommy Hilfiger, the maker of that new, stretchier suit, and will be the face of its tailored clothing and TH Bold fragrance and the body wearing its underwear collection.
Today in New York City, Tommy Hilfiger and Rafael Nadal celebrated the brand’s new underwear collection, ‘TH Bold’ fragrance and tailored collection, and unveiled the Fall 2015 ad campaign featuring the tennis icon, with a pop-up tennis tournament in Bryant Park.

Rafa challenged some of New York’s best-dressed opponents in a one-of-a-kind, rapid-fire tennis competition, with a fun, sexy twist.
Rafa faced off in several rounds of tennis with top models including Chanel Iman, Constance Jablonski, Hannah Davis, Noah Mills, Arthur Kulkov and Akin Akman, all dressed in custom Tommy Hilfiger looks.
Each time a team scored a point their opponents removed a piece of clothing, eventually unveiling the new Tommy Hilfiger men’s and women’s underwear designs.
